Throughout 2010 I managed to see 260 species in Britain.

My highlights of the year were trips to Speyside, Scotland in April; Citrine Wagtail, Great Reed Warbler & Franklin’s Gull all new species for Derbyshire; Oriental Pratincole in Lincolnshire in May (my 2nd); Shetland in May – (a stunning summer plumaged Long-tailed Skua was holding territory on mainland, Black Stork and Golden Oriole on Unst & Icterine Warbler on Mainland) & Shetland in September; ( Finds included Arctic Warbler / Arctic Redpoll; 7 Barred Warbler; 2 Common Rosefinch; Red-breatsed Flycatcher; Bluethroat – also Buff-bellied Pipit & Buff-breasted Sandpiper on Mainland) Isles of Scilly in October (Red-flanked Bluetail on St.Martin’s) ; my only lifer of the year – Marmora’s Warbler in Wales during June and the huge numbers of Waxwings that arrived during November 2010 – I even managed a photo in Birding World – chuffed…….
