A Trickle of Spring Migrants - 22nd April 2012

A day of mixed weather, cold wind, April showers and warm sunshine, when the sun was out! Spring migrants are now beginning to arrive.     Chiffchaff’s seem to be in good numbers this year, with plenty singing at both Willington & Attenborough. Several were very obliging. A few Reed Warblers , several Common Whitethroat and Sedge Warbler and small numbers of Blackcap. Cetti’s Warbler were present at both sites. A Stunning “Gropper” - Sunday, 24 April 2011

It is not every day that one manages to get stunning views of a what is normally a very elusive bird. News of a very showy Grasshopper Warbler at Attenborough local Nature Reserve near Nottingham, we simply had to go along and check it out. What a stunning individual, showing down to less than 10 feet at times. Total disregard for the numerous people trying to photograph it.
