The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs on the Yorkshire coast is a real sea bird city. However, by late July, Early August the majority of the auks (Puffins, Razorbills and Guillemots) have left their colonies, leaving just Gannets, Kittiwakes and a few Fulmars behind.
This year has seen a new visitor to the sea bird cliffs, a Black-browed Albatross. This individual arrived during late June and has summered at the site. However, when I visited on the 4th August, it wasn’t to be seen. Fortunately I had excellent views of it on the 30th June. Always a great place to test out ones photographic skills, especially of birds in flight. I wanted to capture some of the young Kittiwakes, as they are quite splendid in their black and white juvenile plumage.
Here are some of the results.
