Another day spent at Frampton Marsh, near Boston, Lincolnshire, one of the RSPB’s finest reserves. Only an hour or so drive from home and a place I really enjoy visiting. The reserve always has great potential and you never know what you might find here. A recent White-rumped Sandpiper and a good variety of waders was enough to spark our interest. The RSPB Reserve at Frampton Marshes in Lincolnshire is a great place to observe migrating waders. To-day was not exception with 18 species being seen in just a few hours. Not to mention the variety of other marshland birds with plenty of spring migrants on offer. My favourite spring waders were at this reserve, Temminck’s Stint and Wood Sandpiper. Also a summer plumaged Curlew Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank and Little Stint. Many of the common waders were in good numbers with at least 200 Ringed Plover and a 100 Dunlin.
