After spending the morning of Monday 1st May birding in Derbyshire, I was amazed at the final bird tally, could this really be my home county on the 1st of May? <\/strong><\/span> – Black Tern(6),<\/span><\/span> <\/span>Arctic Tern <\/span>(1), Sanderling (7), Dunlin, LRP <\/span>(5), Turnstone (1), Bar-tailed Godwit (2), Curlew (1), Common Sandpiper,<\/span> summer plumaged Great Northern Diver, Bittern, Med Gull, Cuckoo, Swift<\/span>, Reed Warbler<\/span>, Cetti’s Warbler, Little Owl and lots of common summer migrants. It had been a longtime since I had seen 6 Black Tern and 10 species of wader in a mornings birding in Derbyshire. Fantastic… Here are a few record shots of some of the better birds from my trip round the county. The year list moves on to 191.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bar-tailed Godwit<\/strong> – An uncommon passage wader in Derbyshire, most records are of spring migrants. – Tony Davison\u00a9 – this bird is in summer plumage and you can just make out the barred tail<\/em><\/p>\n

Black Tern<\/strong> – above 3 images – 6 of these beautiful marsh terns were seen at 2 sites, part of a large passage of birds throughout central England during 30th April – 1st May 2017  – Tony Davison\u00a9<\/p>\n

Mediterranean Gull<\/strong> – You can’t beat a summer plumaged Mediterranean Gull for gorgeousness- this one was a lucky fly-through – Tony Davison\u00a9<\/em><\/p>\n
