A bird of arid grasslands and deserts, breeding from&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">the Canary Islands, eastwards across to North &amp; East Africa into Iraq and then from&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">southwest Asia towards Afganistan.<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\">This bird was first discovered on St.Agnes on 28th September. It was on on St.Agnes for a&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">short time before it then disappeared. It was eventually re-located on St.Martin&rsquo;s on 29th&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">September. These&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">pictures were digi-scoped. The bird remained on the islands for several more weeks and I&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">saw the bird again during my annual weeks birding on St.Mary&rsquo;s. It eventually departed&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">St.Martin&rsquo;s and was re-discovered on the Golf Course on St.Mary&rsquo;s. The bird eventually&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">was picked up wet and thoroughly exhausted and eventually died whilst in care.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">What a&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">very sad ending to a very enigmatic bird.<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 14px; \">&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The first British record for 20 years.
