Always worth a visit to the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Reserve at Willington Wetlands. I’ve known this reserve for over 50 years, first visiting it as a young birder in my early teens. It’s changed a lot over the years and I’m not so sure its as good as it once was for attracting waders and other migrants using the River Trent as a fly-way. It remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

On this particular morning there was a fine Great White Egret on view, Common Sandpiper, Ruff and Dunlin, good numbers of Shoveler and a Little Egret bearing colour rings. Also a Grey Heron was very photogenic, and so was a stunning Migrant Hawker Dragonfly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
