Patience and persistance seems to be paying off.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong><span style=\"color:#FF8C00;\">2nd February<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; 11 <strong>Red-legged Partridge<\/strong>, a year and a site year tick&nbsp;and an adult <span style=\"color:#FFFF00;\">Yellow-legged Gull<\/span>. Also several Yellowhammers visiting the feeder with regularity, which is pleasing as these birds are now on the brink of disappearing from this site.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#FF8C00;\"><strong>3rd February<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; A morning spent playing catch-up on one or two good county year ticks &#8211; <span style=\"color:#FFFF00;\">Red-necked Grebe<\/span> at Ogston Reservoir; 1st winter <span style=\"color:#FFFF00;\">Little Gull<\/span> at Carsington Water and 7<span style=\"color:#FFFF00;\"> Bewick&#39;s Swan<\/span> at Twyford, a real bonus species, as I arrived on site expecting to find just 5 Whooper Swan. There have also been several <strong>Bitterns<\/strong> frequenting the<strong> Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Reserve <\/strong>at <span style=\"color:#FF8C00;\">Wyver Lane,<\/span> near <span style=\"color:#FF8C00;\">Belper<\/span>. Goosander&nbsp;are very scarce at this water these days and&nbsp;the first I&#39;ve seen here for a number of years. In the 1980&#39;s &amp; 1990&#39;s&nbsp;they were much more common and in good numbers at both Staunton Harold and Foremark Reservoirs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong><span style=\"color:#FF8C00;\">9th February<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; Finally got <strong>Sparrowhawk <\/strong>for my Staunton Harold year list\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#FF8C00;\"><strong>10th February<\/strong><\/span> &#8211; A real miserable morning, cold and wet&nbsp;with&nbsp;very grey cloud. A pair of <span style=\"color:#FFFF00;\">Common Scoter<\/span>&nbsp;was a nice find and soon brightened up the morning&nbsp;and with <strong>Green Woodpecker <\/strong>giving a distant &quot;Yaffle&quot;, puts me on 80 for the year at my local patch.<strong> <span style=\"color:#FF0000;\">My national year list moves on to 92<\/span><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Early February has been productive so far at my Local Patch, Staunton Harold Reservoir.
