\n\tAfter the recent onslaught of rare "Yanks" arriving at all corners of the country, this weekend was rather mediocre. In any case my bank balance wouldn't have stood the charters and petrol money required to vist Porthgwarra, Cornwall for a Hermit Thrush (didn't need it in any case); the Isle of Rum for a Mourning Dove; Unst for the incredible Cape May Warbler and Lundy for a Myrtle Warbler. Phew what a major disappointrment!\n<\/p>\n

\n\tSaturday 2nd November, Richard, Glyn and myself made our way over to Frampton Marsh & Gibralter Point in Lincolnshire. A fairly quiet day but some good views of common waders and wildfowl at Frampton and a Jack Snipe at Gibralter Point. Unfortunately we missed our target bird, White-rumped Sandpiper.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tSo on Sunday (3rd November) I had to make do with a Midlands Tick in the form of a Dusky Warbler<\/strong><\/span> at Marsh Lane local Nature Reserve near Walsall Common. An incredible inland find of this rare warbler. Glad it wasn't a lifer as it gave unbelievably brief views and was very elusive. Then news broke of a Glossy Ibis<\/strong><\/span> at Bakewell in North Derbyshire, so off we set and 2 hours later we managed to stumble on the bird which had moved to the Bakewell Show Ground Fields. Much to the delight of two of our county recorders. My year list moved on to 252.<\/span><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n
