Plenty of common waders and several <span class=\"style_2\">Eider<\/span> off-shore. On the freshwater lagoon a good variety of waders including <span class=\"style_2\">Avocet, Black-tailed Godwit, Snipe, Ruff<\/span> and Dunlin. Also a <span class=\"style_2\">Water Pipit<\/span>, numerous Pintail, several <span class=\"style_2\">Marsh Harrier,<\/span> a <span class=\"style_2\">Little Egret<\/span> and I managed to find a 2nd winter Mediterranean Gull in the large flock of Black-headed Gulls, that had not been discovered at the time.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\">\n\tOn the sea a <span class=\"style_2\">Red-necked Grebe<\/span>, several <span class=\"style_2\">Red-breasted Merganser<\/span>, numerous Goldeneye and several hundred distant <span class=\"style_2\">Common Scoter<\/span>. The purpose of this trip was really to see the long staying Juvenile Male <span class=\"style_2\">Northern Harrier<\/span> (the American race of our Hen Harrier). This bird was first identified as the race <span class=\"style_4\">hudsonius<\/span> back in November 2010. I first saw this bird over <span class=\"style_1\">Burnham Norton<\/span> on the 7th November but never had the courage of my convictions to call it.\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"graphic_textbox_layout_style_default\">\n<p class=\"Body\">\n\t\tAfter seeing the bird on surfbirds later in November I realised from the photos that it was the same bird. We eventually had excellent views as the bird flew across <span class=\"style_1\">Thornham Harbour<\/span> towards <span class=\"style_1\">Titchwell<\/span> in the middle of the afternoon. Not having had any previous experience of this species, I was impressed with how distinctive it looked in flight. Seemed smaller and more compact than Hen Harrier and even at a distance the striking coloration of the bird could easily be seen.\n\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\">\n\t\tAlso at <span class=\"style_1\">Thornham<\/span> several Barn Owl and Marsh Harrier, <span class=\"style_2\">Merlin<\/span>, Peregrine, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel. We finished the day at <span class=\"style_1\">Burnham Overy<\/span> and had superb views of a <span class=\"style_2\">Rough-legged Buzzard<\/span>.\n\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\">\n\t\t<span class=\"style_5\">The day finished on 32 year ticks and the year list moved on to 124.<\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; A day out in North Norfolk provided some real cracking birds with 9 species of Raptor being seen during the day.
