Yponomeutidae – Yponomeutinae – Euhyponomeuta stannella – Orpine Ermine

STATUS This species was discovered new to the British Isles in 1926 on dry limestone slopes on the Derbyshire side of Dovedale. It was later found fairly commonly in Dovedale as an imagine and as a larva feeding on Orpine (Sedum telephium). Seemingly the Orpine has suffered from both overgrazing and over-walking and this moth has not been recorded since 1976. If the food plant can be found in suitable quantities, there is hope that this species may be re-discovered

ID POINTERS –

FLIGHT PERIOD – Larva feed on the food plant from August to April
