STATUS – A resident and widely distributed species, that is locally common in Derbyshire. Largest numbers have been recorded at sites situated on the Coal Measures.
ID POINTERS – A brown or reddish brown pug with many cross-lines. A narrow white sub-terminal line, slightly widened and angled at the tornus. The forewing is somewhat narrow with a curved leading edge.
As with a number of Pug species, melanic forms occur, which require close inspection to determine the ID.
FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing May – June and August.
