Autostichidae – Oegoconia quadripuncta ag.
STATUS – Status in the county unknown as there are two other species in the family, O.caradji and O.deauratella, all closely related and all three resemble each other. Positive ID can only be achieved by gen det. O.quadripuncta seems to be the more common of the three and has the wider distribution, extending north into Lancashire. O.caradji is currently local to the south and east of Britain and O.deauratella is apparently spreading north and west from the south-east of Britain. (August 2020).
ID POINTERS – The moths rest flat and close to the ground with their wings slightly overlapping. The forewings are narrow and rounded at the apex and are mainly striped as brown and pale creamy yellow cross-bands. Quite a distinctive looking micro moth.
