Peleopodidae – Carcinia quercana

STATUS A common woodland species throughout the county, with the exception of the dales, probably due to the scarcity of oak.

ID POINTERS – A small and attractively marked moth with very long antennae. Brightly coloured with wings flat and overlapping when at rest. Forewings range from pinkish-brown to orangey-brown, a narrow yellow rectangular mark on the costa and bright yellow band along the wing fringes. Unmistakeable.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing July – August – comes to light.
