Tortricidae – Tortricinae – Exapate congelatella – Autumnal Shade

STATUS Common on the peak grit areas in Derbyshire – Sometimes abundant on unspoilt moorland. Males are on the wing in October and early November.

ID POINTERS – The male has elongated forewings slate grey in colour with a slight whitish wedge shaped wash along the leading edge. Also several darkish blotches along the leading edge and central within the forewing and often a cross band. The latest of the tortricidae to be on the wing.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing October into early December
