STATUS A common species of the heather moors of Derbyshire.

ID POINTERS – Easily identified by its variegated rufous-brown and silvery-white appearance. Has a habit of being well camouflaged amongst the moorland plants, so not readily seen.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing during September – October and overwinters till the spring.
