Crambidae – Pyraustinae – Pyrausta despicata – Straw-barred Pearl

STATUS – Unknown, probably locally common. Last modern day record appears to be 1976. Most probably overlooked or under recorded. Frequents chalky or limestone habitats. This specimen seen during the daytime on 2nd July 2021.

ID POINTERS – A plain brown triangular shaped pyrausta species, with two brown dots near the middle of the forewing and with slightly paler cross-bands. 

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing during April – June & July – September
