STATUS – A resident species, widely distributed but generally uncommon throughout Derbyshire. Recorded in small numbers each year.
ID POINTERS – Very distinctive and unlikely to be confused with any other Pug species. The shape of the wing at rest and the bold black V shaped marking in the forewing are diagnostic. The ground colour is greenish when fresh and this can fade to a yellowish fawn with age. The abdomen is also green with a distinctive black “Belt shaped” marking and two rows of parallel black spots.
FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing April – September.
