STATUS Widely distributed and common to abundant in the county.

ID POINTERS – Fairly distinctive in appearance, with a dark brown forewing, variably speckled with white, dark brownish cross-bands and whitish markings on the costa, forming fine white lines. Chequered fringes to the forewing.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing during April – November. Found around large clumps of Nettle (Urtica dioica), the larval food-plant.
