STATUS – The predominant food-plant is Rose. Recorded in the county in 1948, but since, only 3 modern day records to 2024, from 2016 Clay Cross, 2021 Froggatt and 2023 Staveley.
ID POINTERS – Another bird dropping mimic. The basal two thirds of the forewing is brown, mixed leaden or black, and sparsely speckled pale yellowish-brown. The remaining third of forewing is a pale yellowish brown, which fades over time, then the two small pale indentations in the outer margin of the dark basal patch help to determine the species.
