Attractively marked with lilac and orange-brown shades across both upper-wing surfaces. Greatest density found on the coal measures of the county. It is not uncommon in the main river valleys of the south and central areas of Derbyshire. ID POINTERS – The most diagnostic feature is the outermost cross-line which is jagged in shape, creamy white with an arrowhead or blotch mark along the inner edge. An uncommon species that is found across a wide central moorland belt in the county.  ID POINTERS – A variable species but the main characteristic is a long black wedge shape running through the forewing that contains a rather elongated small pale straw or whitish coloured oval. It is widely distributed on heather moorlands and in the Carboniferous Limestone areas, being recorded from most of the dales. ID POINTERS – An unmistakable moth. Black and cream patterning across upper wing with yellow & black patterning on hind wing. FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing May – July.
