A fairly quiet weekend birdwise, so Saturday 30th November, we decided to head off to the North East Coast and Hartlepool Fish Quay, Hartlepool Headland and South Shields. A few good birds including numerous Purple Sandpiper, a huge flock of roosting Redshank at Sea Burn, Red-throated Diver, Common Scoter off Hartlepool Headland, a Long-tailed Duck, several drake Pintail at Saltholme and disappointly, a near encounter with an Ivory Gull. Unfortunately we were some 25 miles way when it flew north up the coast from Sea Burn Beach. By the time we got there the bird must have been many miles further north. Not such a good weekend as last but some stunning seascapes, huge "White Horse Waves" at Hartlepool and a few decent birds. Also a chance to get a few shots of Gulls at Hartlepool Fish Quay. Could have been worse.

Local Patch this morning at Staunton Harold. Nothing much other than the ever present adult Yellow-legged Gull. Good numbers of Fieldfare & Redwing about and around 120 Teal & 30 Wigeon. A stunning morning and a great opportunity to take some photos of Black-headed Gulls. The autumn colours were quiet amazing in the brilliant sunshine, casting some brilliant colours across the water. Song Thrush singing already !!
