STATUS – A resident species, widely distributed and locally common in Derbyshire. Found throughout the county but in largest numbers in the lowland areas of southern and eastern Derbyshire, where its principle habitats are verges and embankments of canals and railways, derelict industrial sites and unimproved pasture land.
ID POINTERS – A day flying moth that is variable in colour but easily recognisable. Forewing is light tawny or dull drown with a central band that is contrastingly darker in colour. usually a dark streak at wing-tip. A small black spot in central area of forewing.
FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing between June – August
