STATUS – A resident species that is not uncommon in local woodlands. The moth is well distributed but is mainly associated with deciduous woodland and areas that have a long history of woodland coverage.
 
ID POINTERS – Can be confused with Common Marbled Carpet. It is very variable in patterning and colour. The most reliable feature is the projection on the outer edge of the large central band on the forewing. The ground-colour is usually a combination of greys and browns.
 
FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing between September- November and then in the spring after hibernation.
