STATUS – A resident species that is widely distributed and locally common in Derbyshire. Found in all areas of the county but largest populations found in ancient woodlands.

ID POINTERS –  The moth is easy to identify and fairly diagnostic.A dark grey-brown with rusty-brown markings along the trailing edge of the forewing and streaks near the base of the wing and marks within the central area of the forewing.

FLIGHT PERIOD –  On the wing May – August.
