STATUSA resident species that is uncommon and locally distributed in Derbyshire. Widely distributed throughout the south of the county.

ID POINTERS – Small in size compared to the other underwing species. The ground colour is an orange-reddish brown. There is a wavy cross-line through the central area of forewing and several paler lines towards the base of the wing. The hind wing is a mustard yellow and there is a broad black band that has  a central blackish streak and a streak that borders both the trailing and leading edge. There may also be a small crescent mark in the hind wing.

FLIGHT PERIOD – On the wing July – August.
