STATUS A resident that is common and widely distributed in Derbyshire. It is common in all areas of the county. The darker form is predominant and it is one of the most abundant of the spring moths.

ID POINTERS – Very variable but most are easy to recognise. The outer cross line is pale but with darker markings towards the leading edge in the middle and again at the trailing edge. The ground colour can be a mix of greys, browns, blacks, purples and pale blues all “Clouded” together. Kidney and oval marks are usually outlined. Wing tip tends to be more pointed at the tip.
