A Cornish Please

We spent a few days in Cornwall during early September, staying in a nice hotel located at Housel Bay on the Lizard peninsular. The weather was very mixed, some foggy days, some sunny days and some rain now and again. It was good to get away and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

I had not seen Cirl Bunting for many years, so on our journey down to Cornwall, and on our way back home, we stopped off at Labrador Bay, in Devon. An excellent place to see this rare British bird.

Other good birds during our stay were a Mediterranean Gull at Kennack Sands, a smart “Greenland” type Northern Wheatear at Kynance, a Redstart at Labrador Bay and numerous Chiffchaff at various locations, and also some interesting plants too.
