An Eleonora’s Falcon, a 2nd summer female, was discovered in Kent during the end of May. A long awaited “Twitchable” bird for many UK birders. The arrival of this bird coincided with my planned visit to Kent to see some of the rare orchids with a friend who lives in the village where the falcon was located. In fact we were able to view it from his back garden, albeit a little distant!
Also at the same site was a superb Red-footed Falcon, and several Hobby. So along with a weekend of rare orchids, a British Lifer and another rare bonus falcon, it was a great weekend.
