A visit to the Derbyshire Moors this morning trying to catch-up with a Great Grey Shrike. Despite the glorious sunshine, it was blowing a gale and there was no sign of the Great Grey Shrike. In fact very little on the moor apart from a few Raven, a Peregrine and a Kestrel. Another visit to Cromford produced Tree Creeper and a Dipper on the river. Whilst looking for Hawfinch (two heard but not seen) I had a superb encounter with a pair of Long-tailed Tit. So busy collecting and looking for nest material, they were oblivious of my presence. Later in the morning, we watched a superb make Goshawk. Great to see these magnificent raptors. Early afternoon and just before a torrential downpour, I managed one decent photo of a male Yellowhammer on my patch. Will try again when the weather is better. The Year List moves on to 135
