Fuertaventura – A few days in the Canary Islands

During mid March 2022, we spend a week visiting the island of Fuertaventura. It was our first visit to the Canary Islands and sampling some early spring sunshine. The Scottish Highlands for a special bird

I decided to spend a few days in Scotland photographing Crested Tit with my good friend and Pro Photographer Pete Walkden. (https://www.petewalkden.co.uk). Highly recommended.. I had a marvellous time as always, and the weather couldn’t have been better. Heavy snow in the forest, some sunshine and blue skies, making conditions ideal.   I also spent

Shetland 2021

I made my annual visit to Shetland for the first time since 2019 and Lockdown. It was good to get back to these magical isles. We stayed on Unst, at our normal croft at Northdale, from 6th October to 12th October. A fairly quiet trip in terms of rare birds, but we did manage to

Green is the Colour

On the 9th of September an adult Green Warbler was trapped and ringed at Buckton, Yorkshire. This bird represented the 9th record for Britain and the first twitchable one on the British mainland. We were driving back from our weeks holiday in Cornwall on the 10th and so the 11th would be my first opportunity
