A visit to the RSPB reserve at Frampton Marsh in Lincolnshire is always a worthwhile trip. It’s only a couple of hours drive from home, so provides an ideal place to watch migrating waders in spring and autumn. Our visit on Saturday 19th August provided a good selection including 2 Wood Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpiper, an adult Little Stint, numerous Icelandic Black-tailed Godwit and Dunlin, small numbers of Ruff, Avocet, Redshank, Greenshank, and Ringed Plover, 4 Little Ringed Plover, at least 50 Little Egret, 5 Spoonbill, a few Swift, a Marsh harrier and 4 Turtle Dove (including 2 juveniles). A few photographic opportunities presented themselves during the day. Alas no year ticks.
