Boobies at the Seaside !

An unprecedented event took place in Cornwall during the past week. A Brown Booby was discovered, a new bird to Britain, and spent several days in the Carbis Bay, St.Ives area. It proved elusive and was difficult to connect with. It wasn’t seen on Friday 30th August and so was presumed to have gone by […]

The Island of Mull – 17th – 22nd August

We spent a few days away on the Island of Mull from 17th to 22nd August. The weather was a mixed bag of rain, wind and some sunshine. Fortunately the weather didn’t disrupt our trip to Iona and the boat trip for White-tailed Eagle that I had pre-booked before we left. This was the highlight

Bits and Pieces

A few images from my wanderings over recent days. A recent visit to Wales for Bog Orchid was a bit of a disaster as we struggled to find any at two reliable sites. The Greek Island of Samos 2019

My wife and I re-visited one of our favourite chill-out places for a 5th time, the greek island os Samos. We stayed at the same hotel near the little fishing village of Kokkari on the north coast. It really is a great place to relax and unwind. The weather was superb and so not a

A Day Twitching in Yorkshire

A few good birds were available in Yorkshire this weekend, so a day twitching on Sunday was a wise move. A male Black-headed Bunting and a female Subalpine Warbler sp, had been discovered at Flamborough Head, whilst a Great Reed Warbler was continuing to sing and show at Wintersett Reservoir, near Barnsley. The Subalpine Warbler,
