Year Ticking in North Norfolk

A visit to North Norfolk early in the year really kick starts the year list, and Sunday 7th January was no exception. We arrived at Titchwell early morning with plenty of common ducks and waders on view, including a small flock of wintering Avocet. From one of the hides a number of Shoveler were giving good […]

Local Patch Stuff

My first visit of 2015 to my local patch. A great morning with bright sunshine and blue skies. A total contrast to the Trent Valley, where it was thick fog, hampering our search for the local Great Grey Shrike. So a few common birds for the year – Nuthatch, Coal Tit, Pied Wagtail, Dunnock, Jay,

Arctic Gulls in Northumberland

We spent a day at North Shields Fish Quay, Northumberland on Saturday 3rd January 2015. The fish quay is a great place for “White-winged” Gulls during the winter months and we were not to be disappointed. A Day with Owls

Despite the snow and pretty awful conditions, we set out for the fens of Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, in the pursuit of some Short-eared Owls. It was a long and careful drive through many untreated roads but we arrived at our Short-eared Owl site near Eldernell around eleven o’clock. We quickly encountered several birds hunting but

Trial and Error

Well I’ve splashed out and purchased some new Camera Gear. The following images are the first results, taken with my new Canon Camera and Lens, over weekend of 20th & 21st December 2014. The weather over the weekend was not really conducive to photography, being very grey & cloudy with little in the way of

The LEO’s of Poland

From the 6th to the 9th of December, Glyn, Richard, Mike and myself spent a few days birding in Southern Poland. Our aim was to photograph some of the Long-eared Owls that roost at several sites around the city of Krakow. Glyn made contact with our local guide, Felix Felger, who made all the arrangements with
