A Derbyshire `Tick'

Over the years I’ve missed numerous Spoonbills in Derbyshire. This spring I missed one at Ogston by minutes, so I was hopeful that I would catch up with one soon enough, especially as their numbers are increasing in the UK year on year. Sure enough, an immature bird was discovered during mid-morning at Willington Gravel Pits on the 25th August 2021, giving me my chance and fortunately the bird stayed long enough for me to see it. East Coast Waders - 19th August 2012

Plenty of common waders on offer at RSPB Titchwell, in Norfolk and RSPB Frampton Marsh in Lincs. A total of 22 species were seen to-day. Highlights being a 1stw Red-Necked Phalarope at Frampton; 22 Spotted Redshank at Titchwell; c300 Black-tailed Godwit at both sites; c200 Bar Tailed Godwit at Titchwell along with 16 Spoonbill, an impressive sight especially when they all took off for a fly round. A Wild Goose Chase for an Arctic Cow!  -  8th January 2012

The new birding year always starts with a trip to the North Norfolk coast. With several major rarities on offer, this weekend was no exception and several Barn Owl were seen on route. So we kicked off at the infamous Norfolk Trust reserve at Cley-next-the-Sea and despite several hours of searching and waiting, we dipped on the Western Sandpiper.
